Hi all,

Got a complete flat on Monday evening.

Called Skoda Roadside assistance and AA were sent out.

Not repairable, completely ruined tyre with only 3000 miles on it.

AA couldn’t fit the spare because their biggest spare wouldn’t fit over the brake callipers.

Had to wait 2 hours for a recovery truck to put the car back on my drive.

It’s now Wednesday morning and it seems that no one has the same tyre available so I’m stuck.

My car has Pirelli Scorpion Elect 235 50 20 100T and apparently the tyre is that new that even Pirelli don’t have it on their system yet.

Looking for some advice because my local Skoda group don’t have a tyre for it and also no courtesy cars so I’m stumped with a brand new car that I can’t use.

I would have thought a tyre being consumable should be readily available as punctures and flats are pretty common events.

Thanks in advance all.

Guess it depends how hung up you are on getting exactly the same tyre as a replacement. The Pirelli 'Elect' range was developed specifically for electric cars (low rolling resistance, low road noise, good initial grip according to Pirelli's own blurb). There's even a PZero Elect specifically for the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

However you could get a Pirelli Scorpion Verde reasonably easily in the same size? Have a look on Black Circles, Oponeo, etc. and I'm sure you'll find something. Various companies offer mobile fitting, so they can even come to you and change the tyre on your drive.

MyTyres.co.uk are showing Scorpion Elects in stock: https://www.mytyres.co.uk/rshop/tyre/Pi ... e/R-413204

Alternatively you could replace both front tyres with something else, for example some Enyaqs come with Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 in that size.

Thanks for the replies.

I’ve been hunting the same tyre as I’ve been told by pretty much every tyre place I’ve spoken too that it needs to be the same.

What are the consequences of putting on a different brand tyre even if it’s exactly the same size and rating?

I did see the Verdes but wondered if I specifically needed the Elect version.

Tyre sourcing for anything slightly unique is becoming an issue anyway; back in the summer I had an irreparable flat on my 5 series BMW and it took nearly 3 weeks for them to source the right run-flat size. Luckily for me it was a company car so I was given a replacement car for the duration, but imagine being without a personal car for that period of time.

Hopefully you’ll get this sorted a lot quicker than I was able to (on the bmw).

Not used MyTyres before, but I do know that they ship from a warehouse in Germany and there have been some horror stories of tyres taking weeks to arrive. They do have a network of affiliated fitters, but not sure they do mobile fitting. That said, you could get the tyres delivered direct to your home and then arrange a mobile fitter to come and fit it? Or if you can get the wheel off and leave your car on an axle stand, take the tyre and wheel to get it fitted somewhere? Most reputable fitters aren't too bothered about this and often don't charge more than £10-20 for fitting and balancing.

Hope that helps!

That’s what I’m trying to do now, take the wheel somewhere but no one has the tyre apparently.

Spoke to Skoda again and they advised that the only tyres they do for the car are the ones I have on so advised me not to put anything else on there.

They have now stated that they can get me a tyre tomorrow apparently, just waiting for a call back from the parts department but they failed to call me back earlier so have missed the cut off for a tyre today.

Well that's just not true is it? My Enyaq has Hankook Ventus 20" from the factory, and some people have got Bridgestone 20"s. If you look at the Configurator it gives the different possibilities of tyre that might be fitted to that model. So given those three makes are fitted at the factory, they can't argue with you using the same.

You need to have the same type of tyre on the axle, or in other words, if you replace the front left, you also need to replace the front right with the same type. But you can have different on the front to the rear. Ideally yes, you'd put a single Pirelli Scorpion Elect on, and the tread depth will be close enough as you haven't done many miles yet. However if you really can't get hold of one, but you can get two Hankooks or two Bridgestones of suitable type, then you could fit those (though it'd cost more than a single Pirelli obviously).

btw - MyTyres was just the first one that came up in a Google search. I haven't used them myself. I have used BlackCircles and Camskill for tyres that I've taken to a local fitter, and I've used TyresOnTheDrive (ie Halfords) to get tyres fitted at my house. Didn't check them for stock though.
