Hello My first time
Looking for help hope to order a SKODA ENYAQ iV 60 NAV Loft with 19” or 20” wheels. What is the difference please between the 19" Proteus Alloy Wheels and the 20" Vega Silver Metallic Alloy Wheels? Which is the one best for Improve handling and performance, noise and comfort and fuel economy and impact on ride quality? it is difficult to decide on the best size
Hope you can help

I guess your only real option to compare yourself would be to find a dealer with a demonstrator car with 19" alloys and another with 20" alloys on an Enyaq, although you'll probably be lucky to find any dealer that would have both available to compare back-to-back.

Generally if it's ride comfort you want, then go for the smaller alloys. If it's more about handling, then go for the narrower sidewall on the 20"s, although TBH, with 235/50R20, they're hardly low profile. There's unlikely to be much difference in terms of range (I guess you mean this rather than fuel economy?) as they're the same width of tyre regardless of rim size.

The other consideration is replacement cost either for when they wear out or if the worst happens and one gets damaged beyond repair and you need to buy a new tyre.

A quick search on Blackcirlces shows the 19" tyres would be in the region of £130 each, 20" tyres would be around £200 each (or possibly more - hard to compare like with like). UK prices, obviously.

Quite generous of Skoda to offer the 20" alloys as a no-cost option as larger alloys are normally quite an expensive option.

Hope that helps!

There are small differences in size of tyre front and rear with 20” wheels. These are not immediately apparent when configuring or studying specs. Ours is on 20” wheels and it’s a great ride (we took what was available and-overall- are delighted with it).

The price drop happened at the time I placed my order and when I checked with Skoda, they mentioned that there were production issues regarding the smaller sizes, hence the 'free' upgrade to the 20" wheels and the 50% reduction off the price of the 21" Betria wheels.

It would be interesting to know if anyone who placed their order in late 2020 or early 2021 - who had 19" wheels in their spec - were upgraded to 20" wheels for free ?

The 19" will offer the best ride. The narrower rubber you go, the firmer the ride will be.
The big difference is price. You could easily be looking at £800 to replace four 20" tyres and half that for 19".

Ultimately it's a choice between a slight cosmetic difference against a firmer ride and much more costly replacements.
