Is there any option to purchase a extension for tethered chargers ie when non ev cars parked . Numerous times I’ve had to park on a odd close angle or behind chargers

Like this seems to be the usual issue where I can’t use my own type 2 lead

You can’t really extend DC 50kW+ CCS cables easily due to the high current. Quite a few have liquid cooling pipes in the cable too (especially those 350kW ones!)

Not as big an issue with AC 7.2 kW Type 2, but you don’t tend to see many tethered ones of those on public chargers.

As RichR says - If its a high power DC-CCS charge point - forget it. Just too dangerous.

But there are extension cables available for the 7 to 22kW charge points. Sometimes we only need an extra 1 or 2 metres to be comfortable.

You cannot use our Skoda supplied Type 2 charge leads as an extension lead, you need a dedicated extension lead.

Here's some but I've no idea if they will work on every car and every charge point , and a bit pricey for what they are !!

Is the BMW even plugged in? Even if it's a PHEV the charge socket is on the NS front wing - Or is the AC socket untethered, so he's using only 7kW of some Zoe owner's 43kW charge.

No extensions for DC chargers. Ever. In advance of Tesla opening up their supercharger network, I asked a major cable manufacturer. Apparently it's a very very bad thing. Or words to that effect. There are none and it won't ever happen.
