Do I bother extending Warranty on Kodiaq I was due to trade for Enyaq

Like many that ordered Sep/Oct last year, our Enyaq is no where in sight and no idea when it will turn up.

We were due to trade in our Kodiaq, 3 years old and fully owned for a decent trade in. Only has 11k miles on. Come May it is out of warranty and needs an MOT

MOT is fine but it's going to cost me an extra £400 to extend our the warranty, annoying as it's a cost I wasn't planning on. I could bother not extending but if something goes pop it could end up costing us more.

Been looking at the market for other Electric cars ,with the exception of Tesla which I'm not a fan of not a lot around or waiting is big. Going to look at an ev6 GT sline . The other thought is we extend the Kodiaqand just keep it an extra couple of years. Hmmm.

Wonder if I could wangle some sort of warranty extension out of the dealer, any thoughts?

You could always go for the Skoda 'All-in' option which includes 2 services, 2 MOTs and 2 years warranty if you're going to keep the Kodaiq for that long. I believe it's transferable when you sell the car (i.e. to a new owner, it goes with the car), but that would help with the second hand value. Not sure what it costs on a Kodiaq, but think it's not that much more than the £400 you've been quoted for just a single year of extended warranty.

I've always had the dealer to take care of service costs, if I was waiting for a new car. Especially should work if the car is late. It's they, who benefit from it anyway

I have a similar VW “ all in one service option” on my UP GTI - costs £25.00 per month which I believe provides peace of mind should anything go wrong and means I could cancel my existing breakdown cover. You do forfeit any payments made if you sell the car but does extend the warranty for 2 years.

Brought my first new VW in 1975 complete with a 6 months manufacture’s warranty - one of the shortest on offer at the time! VAG continue this trend of offering some of the shortest warranties in the industry only beaten in recent recollection by a new Porsche in 2006 with a 2 year warranty. Like to see VAG move towards Kia 7 year warranty.
