As I hadn’t done the same type of route without the rack I am not able to give a comparison.

Resurrecting an old thread - just back from the alps with 2 bikes on the roof. 130kph gives about 2miles/kWh - we were stopping every 90 minutes or less. Not sure I’ve seen a range of about 130miles for 80% battery before (sportline 80). That said, car was very comfortable doing that all day.

I’m sure putting them on a towbar would be a lot better - just kicking myself ordering one.

Recent trip to France saw us with a roofbox, 2 (kids) bikes on the back and a generally fully laden car, getting around 2.2 mi/kWh on the way out (mostly heavy rain and ~110 kph on the French motorways), and around 2.4 mi/kWh in the sunshine.
