There seems to be a complication with fitting dash cams to the Enyaq. Something to do with the fact that it’s all electric.

Anybody have a solution, recommendations etc etc. I live in Southport

Thanks

For some reason Halfords won't fit dash cams in EVs. However most specialists will. Skoda dealers will supply and fit Nextbase cameras at a cheaper rate than the manufacturer themselves. £143 and £198 for the 322GW and 522GW respectively https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/9577dda6-8 ... 6d7f2dc097

Thanks for that. I’ll peruse it with the dealer and see how I get on.

I had the dealer fit a Nextbase 522 and rear camera when we took delivery of the vehicle last month. They said it would take 2 hours of labour, making a hefty labour fee of £160 (I’m very close to you, so the dealer is the one to the South of you) due to all the trim needing to be opened and re-fitted along the roof for the rear camera.

However, when I picked it up they said it had actually taken about 3 hours but didn’t charge any more and they made a nice job of it, so I’m pleased. There’s a bit of wire visible for the rear camera between roof and the camera itself but that’s necessary so the door will hinge correctly. The only thing I’d change now is putting the rear camera mount where the rear windscreen wiper goes so that it works in wet weather.

So I’d say the rear dashcam is tricky to fit, though the front looks easier.

I used my Skoda dealer to fit a Nextbase 522, total cost for everything was just under £200 which I felt was very reasonable. The trim pillar on the windscreen is vulnerable to slight creasing during removal/refitting and my Dealer ordered a replacement at no cost. Had a spare rearview Nextbase module which simply plugs into the camera, not as good as a dedicated rearview camera but gives a view through the rear window, but at around £50.00 it a cost effective compromise.

Definitely recommend using a Skoda dealer, any problems are then covered and Skoda that a third party has caused subsequent issues.

If fitting a nextbase camera, what would be the best location on a RH drive? Have you had any difficulties with the camera not being able to get GPS signal through the electrically heated windscreen? I'm thinking top centre left or right, but above the rearview mirror to avoid taking up windscreen space. Left means less accessible but you can position the camera body to overlap the printed screen mask and would look a bit neater. Right would mean sticking out more, a slightly longer cable run to the fuse box but more accessible for the driver. What have you done?

For those who have it wired all the way to the back of the car, can I ask for some pictures on where the dealer hide the wires? :) I was trying to do that but can't find a good hidden spot so ended up using my old dashcam at the back from the 12v socket (at the moment).

thanks...

This is where dealer fitted mine. Don’t notice it when driving.

Thanks for sharing the pictures! It looks great! Can I ask how did you route the cable from the front to back? I can't seems to find a place to hide those cables especially now it doesn't have a transmission tunnel.
