Skoda have allowed some journalists access to a prototype drive of the Skoda Enyaq iV on the streets of Ireland ahead of it's official launch later this year.

What can we take away from all this? It's looking like one of the best electric cars available to buy, prices from £35,000,

Here's what they had to say:

Car Magazine:

Given our experiences of the nearly there prototype, it's diffcult to imagine this not being one of the most sought-after cars in 2021. Justifiably so based on this early evidence.

A prototype drive suggests Skoda’s first dedicated electric car is poised to set the class benchmark for technology, refinement and value

AutoExpress:

Skoda still has the thick end of nine months to perfect the Enyaq, but we already feel confident in saying that this model will open up the Czech brand to yet another appreciative audience. The electric motor installation feels extremely refined, the cabin configuration is clever and the onboard tech looks set to be at least the equal of anything offered in similar VW Group products. Assuming Skoda gets the price right - and it usually does - then the biggest problem will be a common one: supply and waiting lists.

AutoCar:
Still, you get the sense that the Enyaq iV’s appeal will come from just how conventional it makes the concept of the electric car feel. Combined with its practical interior, comfortable driving position and decent real-world range, it’s a very easy car to appreciate from a pragmatic point of view (funny that). Perhaps the vRS model will do more to ensure it appeals to the enthusiast, but for the everyman, there’s already a lot to like.
