The rear middle seat

We are a 5 person family mostly all adult size. We need a comfortable middle rear seat. Has anyone tried 3 adults at the back and it ok for a long journey? Many cars have a pointless middle back seat these days. Really hope it is ok.

I've tried it with three adult males all over 185cm tall. I don't know what you would classify as a long journey but I would say that you could have a 90 minute journey with three adults in the back seat but any longer than that I would say you need a break.

I write this while sitting in the middle rear seat on an Enyaq. I am 185 cm long and I believe it shouldn’t be allowed to anyone longer than 165-170 to sit here. The headrest is minimall and at the highest position it just reaches my neck. I’m usually the driver on our 5 member family and its the first time sitting here. I was not expecting any confort but the headrest is a safety risk. Missing our our previous car, a Touran which had three independent seats at the rear.
