So, for the first time since getting the Enyaq, I have a long journey to make.
Approximately 190 miles each way nearly all motorway (70mph). It's predicted to be around 8oC outside, so I will have the heater on at ~20oC.
Doesn't look like it will rain - but heading into Wales, so it almost certainly will at some point..
With 100% charge and a 30min pre-heat; do you think an IV80 will manage 190Miles without a recharge? The Enyaq range calculator on the website is estimating 182miles range.
Appreciate that in all likelihood we'll stop anyway for a rest break or two, but if Im unlikely to average much better than 2.5m/kwh taking the petrol car instead becomes considerably cheaper..

I got 246 miles on a single charge, with about 40 miles left, on a trip from Surrey to the NEC (and back 7 hours later). That was with an outside temperature of 2 to 4 degrees C.
I did drive slower than usual and if I remember correctly, I probably stayed around 60 mph with ACC looking after things. I did have A/C on, to prevent window-misting.
IV80. No heat pump.
Actually I wrote something about it at the time:

To be fair, I think my IV60 could make that just about if I stuck to around 60MPH. It would be close though and I would have to be able to charge at my destination.
I've done several 400 mile+ journeys, but the limiting factor isn't the car, it's me. I need to stop every couple of hours for the loo, so in the 10-15 minutes I'm doing that I tend to put the car on charge, which adds more than enough range to do the next two hours. Generally charging from 20% to 70% is more than sufficient.
Last summer I did 300 miles on one charge, with a few estimated miles remaining - but generally I work on being about to do around 280 miles of motorway miles on cruise control. I like to have the estimated remaining range and the distance to my next stop on the navigation visible so I can get an idea of how much I'll have left when I get there - which gives me contingency if the charger there is out of order or busy to find another. If it gets under 20 miles then I might slow down a little (maybe sit behind a truck on cruise) to maintain that.
And I always have climate control on full auto set to around 19C, I'd rather be comfortable than save a few pence.

Another question is how many people in the car . I regularly do around 130 miles with a mix of motorway and town on 100% leaving me with around 20 or a bit less being conservative on my own . However when I had a 2 adults 2 children and a bit of luggage even keeping to 60 aircon off and eco mode on the 125 mile trip ended up only having 15% left and worried . I’m not sure why but a full car seems to effect performance and range a lot more than my previous kodiaq

Just 2 adults..
Hmm.. so you're getting around 130miles out of 80% worth of charge? IV60 or 80?

I did 180 miles (starting at 100%) at the weekend over 2 days and we still had 134 miles left on the GOM at the end with an average temp of 13C. I would happily do 190 miles in any weather on a single charge in an IV80. Wouldn't even give it a second thought.parkview094 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 9:26 am So, for the first time since getting the Enyaq, I have a long journey to make.

Iv60 I know from experience I can get back home with the journey of around 55 miles when on 30% being very slow and careful and arrive with with 8-12 % but my normal 65-70mph trip there not as careful is constantly around 30%parkview094 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 12:22 pmJust 2 adults..

That’s just me minimal luggage
225m single journey without a charge, a family of 4 with cruise control fixed at 65mph - the car reported another 90miles left from the remaining battery. AC was on set to 19c interior temp
North wales to london. Via M6 and M1 quite a bit of traffic jam near Birmingham and Luton area.
If you can avoid public charger on motorway and able charge the car up to full at the end destinations then it will work out way cheaper than petrol or diesel cars also.
For the above journey my electricity cost at home charging would be £12 and in a normal 4x4 car you are looking at £30-£45 fuel cost.
