First post here, go easy...

With the signifcantly increased depreciation on EVs in recent months I've been considering a used Enyaq 60, but all the (early) models in my price range only have the 50kw charging. I found out on the website that this was in theory is upgradeable at the dealership via a software update (probably chargeable, but hey ho, better than nothing). However, on enquiring at my dealership they said no dice, as did Skoda's online enquiries team, though when pushed they admitted they didn't have sufficient knowledge to answer and referred me to an email address for technical support. Two weeks later and I am still waiting for them to get back to me with a yes/no...

It seems some members here managed to get the upgrade done, but I think they all owned from new. At this point I don't want to waste times identifiying a car and travelling test driving it if the 100kw charging upgrade isn't possible, and I'm a little disappointed that the (I had heard famously good) Skoda CS doesn't seem to be the case when it comes to the Enyaq, I've heard from my local independent VW group specialists are not well understood even within the dealer network. Is this just the reality of being a (relatively) early adopter of a first generation product, or am I right to be getting cold feet? And has anyone here actually successfully upgraded the charging on a used Enyaq 60 yet?

Thanks in advance!

Another example indicating that upgrading is possible, though it's not quite clear whether they were trying to get from 50 to 100kw, or 100 to 120kw...

Yes you can upgrade the standard 50kW up to I think it's 120kW on the 60 though an overpriced trip to your local dealer.

But be aware that you will not get 120kW I till the battery SOC is below 15% (unless this has changed in V3) and will only happen for a.short period of charging.

Unless your doing long journeys past multiple Ultra Rapid chargers I wouldn't waste your money upgrading to it I've survived 2 years without it.

I have a newer car with charging up to 135kWh I understand.
This is irrelevant if you charge at home where a granny charger is less than 3kWh and a wall charger is 7kWh.
If you can’t charge at home for most use charging costs can be extortionate at up to £1 a kWh or on a 60 around 25p a mile. Charged overnight on an off peak rate would be nearer 2p a mile.

As said above you only get the really fast rate when battery is nearly flat, it quickly tails off to around 50kWh anyway.
Some have paid to get the upgrade installed and were disappointed at the small increase in charging speed that results.
If you stop to charge for 30 mins whilst you have a break following 2 to 3 hours driving you would easily top up your car enough for another 2-3 hours.

V3.1 from new, and this isn't my experience. For example see viewtopic.php?p=19659&hilit=Chart#p19659 where I was getting 120 kW with the battery at 45% SoC, tailing off to about 80 kW at 80% SoC.

I do agree that for the most part it is irrelevant (in my experience), but if you're stuck charging the car in the rain on holiday when the family has gone to the restaurant, and you'd quite like to join them, the extra fast charging is really nice. Also if you're on the way home after a long day and you haven't managed to synchronise the charge with a useful toilet/coffee break, charging for ten minutes is much nicer than 25.

Personally I would be surprised if the charging upgrade is no longer available - from memory it was a £440 software upgrade - which I declined. Try contacting a few Skoda dealers to check. Mine was offered by Hendy Skoda Poole for example. Others on the forum will have used different dealers. Alternatively if you see a nice secondhand Enyaq tell the salesperson you will only purchase if they upgrade the charging!

Used car price on Enyaq is very attractive atm. Seen some 20k miler for around 24k but looks like basic 60.

Would definitely recommend getting one that’s got decent spec esp higher charge rates.

Whilst my Sportline 80 was in for the ME3 update, I had an Enyaq 60 as a courtesy car. I have to say, I hadn’t fully appreciated just how much more efficient the lighter, lower power motor 60 is compared to an 80. My usual average for an hour on the A1M is 3.7 mi/kWh. I did the same trip on the loan 60 and got 4.4 mi/kWh - same ACC 70mph and no real noticeable difference in acceleration in normal driving.

If you can charge at home off peak it hardly makes any real difference?
My vRS running at speed limit would do about 3.5m/kWh.
100 miles at that would cost me £2.14
At 4.4m/kWh it would cost £1.70, a difference of 44p!
I no longer worry about eco driving except when going away from home where range is important and cost to charge could be 10 times higher or more.

Don’t misunderstand, I don’t regret buying an 80 one bit - I do regular 300 mile journeys, and the extra range and equipment in the Sportline is welcome. I was just pleasantly surprised at the difference in economy meaning that a 60 might actually work very well for a lot of people. I hadn’t realised the difference was so noticeable.
