Skoda Enyaq iV 80-13.jpg

Auto Express:
The Skoda Enyaq iV 80 is an EV with a great depth of ability. Its ride, refinement and practicality are the key elements here, while on-board tech and solid performance play strong supporting roles. We’d like a little more range (warmer conditions should help) and stronger brake regeneration, but dynamically the car is good. We’d add 125kW charging to boost flexibility too, but at the Enyaq’s core is a likeable – and even luxurious – refined personality that convincingly catapults Skoda into a new era.

Car Magazine:
There's a lot riding on this car for Skoda, but the early signs are good, with an order book that's already bulging for a car that customers have not yet set their eyes on it. The good news is that they shouldn't be disappointed, as it's so on point for right now.

The Enyaq's £35,000 starting price seems fair for the iV 60 model and bodes well for the upcoming entry-level models. It's comfortable, well-sorted, spacious and capable of travelling long distances between charges – our admittedly brief experience is that the anticipated range display is accurate, which is good news for those with range anxiety. It also looks good on the road, well-finished with tight panels gaps and plenty of road presence – far more than we were hoping for.

Given our brief experience so far, it's difficult to imagine this not being one of the most sought-after cars in 2021. Justifiably so based on this early evidence. It's friendlier and more luxurious than a Kia e-Niro and looks better inside and out than a Volkswagen ID.4. Until we directly compare them, it's impossible to call definitively – but right now, it's looking very, very good for the Skoda Enyaq iV, and quite worrying for Volkswagen.

Auto Car:
Prices for the Enyaq 80 start from £39,350 in Loft trim (Suite trim, seen here, starts from £40,660). That undercuts the ID 4 and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, despite offering marginally more space and range than both, if a touch less dynamic appeal. It certainly doesn’t feel like a budget rival in the way that Skodas once did. If anything, the Enyaq is another step forward for the brand.

So there’s much to like. Our only hesitancy in recommending this Enyaq 80 might be the 60 version. While it offers 77 miles less range, with prices starting from £31,995 (aided by it sitting it under the revised government EV grant threshold), it’s substantially cheaper than the 80, which should make it a compelling rival to the likes of the Kia e-Niro.

Overall, then, the Enyaq is excellent. But that isn’t a surprise.
