Free upgrade to 20" wheels

For those of us about to purchase/lease an Enyaq on a personal contract rather than business, and who have chosen not to include maintenance, the free upgrade to 20" wheels looks attractive.
However when you look at the price difference between 20" and 19" tyres the difference is huge - roughly double.
You're looking at £800 for a set of four 20" tyres which is definitely something to consider before making your choice.
Not sure why the price difference is so big - anyone know?

In general, smaller ratio sidewalls mean higher grade steel is needed in the carcass of the tyre, which makes it more expensive. Also there's the factor of economies of scale - common tyre sizes are cheaper as more are made. So a size that's used on many makes and models (generally with a higher sidewall) will be cheaper.

H’mmm be aware also that not all dealers are fully conversant with the ‘free’ aspect of this. Our invoice showed-indeed still shows-a £520.00 charge for the 20” wheels. We got it refunded without quibble once we pointed out that the options list clearly showed it as a foc upgrade.
