Does anyone know what system Skoda uses for the security of its KESSY system? It's described as "Keyless Stop/Stop system and central locking with SAFE system" as standard equipment, and is available as "Keyless entry and start/stop system advanced" as part of either the Convenience Package Basic or Advanced.

Does this use the Ultra Wideband security in the key? This is deemed to be the ultimate security for keyless systems according to Thatcham - it uses a system that sends a time signal as part of the code that's transmitted from the key to the car, so thieves that use the remote systems to steal cars from people's drives can't defeat it as the time element tells the car exactly how far away from the car the key is actually situated, so intercepting the signal and transmitting it closer to the car doesn't work.

I've previously heard that Skoda were going to include motion sensors in their KESSY keys so that it stops transmitting after a few seconds of not moving, for example when you leave your keys on the hall table (or wherever they live in your house), which again defeats the remote theft systems. The issue with these are that it doesn't stop this method of attack if the key is in your pocket as it's obviously still moving, so it's not totally invulnerable.

And what's the difference between the standard KESSY and the advanced version that's included in the Convenience Packages?
