hi all.
the dealership has offered me the skoda extended warranty for £695.
is it worth getting?
extended warranty?
That price includes a commission to the dealer as well as overhead costs and profit for whoever is running the warranty scheme. So the average cost of a warranty claim is probably about £300. However, you could be the unlucky one with an expensive bill.
The biggest item on the car is the battery which has its own 8 year guarantee. Don’t know what it would cost to replace a motor or other electrical equipment.
My philosophy is to only insure for losses that I couldn’t cover myself. eg I have house insurance, but don’t buy extended cover for white goods.
Over the years I will be better off because of the large profit margins included in the warranty price.
You do have some protection from consumer law for 6 years, but knowing that & being able to enforce it are different matters.
Finally, you might think it worth it for the peace of mind, in which case go ahead.
PS you need to check the policy carefully to ensure it meets your needs and that there aren’t any exclusions that would make it worthless. If it’s branded as Skoda it should provide reasonable cover, but I would check before signing up.

If your planning to keep the car for 5 years it means that everything ought to be covered in the same way it is for years 1-3, although have not read the small print to check if there are any exclusions. According to the Skoda configurator the cost for 5 years/100,000 miles is £630 for all Enyaqs saloons. £300/350 pa for extended cover and peace of mind for that expensive repair is not too bad imo, especially it it includes extended roadside recovery. My previous BMW M Sport extended warranty cost a similar amount and although never had to make a claim was worth it to me. Now planning to keep my Enyaq beyond 3 years and will have to see how much Skoda quote to extend my warranty, having decided it was a cost too much with all the option packs back in 2021.
IV60 Quartz Grey, suite, panoramic sunroof, parking basic, climate plus pack, comfort seat basic, drive sport, chrome pack, transport pack, assisted drive plus and 20” Vega wheels. ME3.7 upgrade.
You only get the 5 year complete warranty if it is ordered with the car as an optional extra.
I bought a cancelled order and even though first registered owner could only have the standard 3 year warranty.
The option of extending the 3 year warranty is offered by Skoda as car approaches 3 years old and will have various get out clauses.
The main thing you have though for peace of mind is the 8 year battery warranty anyway.
Hopefully not much to go wrong mechanically that wouldn’t be ruled out anyway as fair wear and tear.
Electrical systems are likely to be the biggest worry as modern cars are so complicated

Grey vrs coupe with 20” wheels, heat pump, heated windscreen and rear seat, adjustable suspension, Canton sound and head up display
yep i ordered it when i ordered the car.
picking up in the next two week so will pay for it separately then. apparently it has to be done like this with škoda.
they mentioned extending it as the 3 years comes to an end which is confusing as i thought you could only order it when you order the car. what’s the difference?
either way i’ve got it but just wanted to see if it’s worth it or anyone has had a good or bad experience?

I ordered the additional 2-years (to make 5 in total) and paid the additional £630.
I figured there is so much to go wrong I'd like to know I can enjoy a £45k car for 5 years without being worried I might have to chose between paying £££s to fix the nice-to-haves or living with stuff stopping workign

Just reviving this topic. Any recent experiences of prices to extend the warranty when the car approaches three years of age? I assume the £630 is for two additional years.
IV60, quartz grey, suite trim, regulus smoke grey alloys, parking basic, climate basic, 100KW charging.

You can buy an extended warranty from Skoda, but its not the same level of cover that the car would come with when new.
I tried to get a quote from skoda website but it woudlnt give me one as the car isnt old enough yet. Still on the fence TBH. I've already fixed the rear shocks myself out of warranty as the dealers were being useless. But on the flip side if something expensive went wrong with the electronics it would be quite nice to have that covered!
