Hi there - is anyone able to confirm how the Enyaq connects to online services and how things like controlling the charging from phone app works? Does the car need be parked within wifi, or bluetooth range of phone, or does it come with its own internet access via some sort of inbuilt sim card? If it is the latter, what mobile network would it connect to or can you choose that as part of your initial setup?
Considering the 80 Loft model...
Thanks!

Fairly certain that the Enyaq will have an eSIM built in - it's effectively a chip built in to the infotainment system that connects via whichever network gives it the strongest signal. Similar tech that's already used in many other cars as well as devices like Apple watches, which don't have a physical sim card.
On that basis, it will be set up by your dealer before delivery and then you don't need to do anything other than decide whether you want to pay the annual fees, although I did read somewhere that the Enyaq comes with 3 years of Skoda Connect from new whereas my current Kodiaq only had 1 year and I then have to pay annually if I want it to continue to work.

It has a ESIM, No idea re mobile network no option to choose.
Skoda connect and MySkoda are quite basic, charging options for me are display only but you can initiate aircon with it.
I have had a 60 loft for the last two weeks, love the lane keeping and drive assist features. Such an easy car to drive.

The SOS functionality in most modern cars (think it's due to become mandatory) isn't usually bound to any particular mobile network as it needs to be able to work no matter which signals are available. The online functionality uses the same data connection. This is because it's a data only connection (unless you activate the SOS call), so the usual rules of being bound to one network don't have to apply. As long as the connection is routed to Skoda's servers it doesn't really matter what route it takes.
But yes - if you live in an area with no mobile signal on any network, then the features that require connectivity may not work until you drive to somewhere with coverage.

I’m pretty sure it had built in sim, and you can get a data package with cube telecom. From what I’ve read, this sounds really good, because it is similar to normal data package costs, but works in most countries in Europe. It switches automatically and you don’t get roaming charges. It even covers the Channel Islands - I enquired, because I live in the islands, and it is a nuisance having to get a different sim when you travel - but problem solved. Once set up, I believe you can use the car as a wifi hotspot for up to 8 devices - so could be great if on holiday in future in France etc. Surprised these features not more highly promoted in the marketing literature. However, I dug around to find out. I think from memory the manual mentions it, which you can view on internet even if you don’t have a VIN. Your Škoda retailer should know … but might not, or you could ask about on Škoda uk chat. Think is similar to setup for VWs, and they might have more on their website

As already answered, it's an eSIM which provides connectivity to Skoda everywhere there is a signal - you still need to use your phone's hot spot for things like internet radio for example

Here it says 6.95 EUR for 2Gb or 14.95 EUR for 5 Gb. I won't define them as "similar to normal data package costs", al least here in Italy where I could buy an esim with 50 Gb/month for as low as 5.99 EUR/month. And 2 Gb is useless if someone uses it to stream some video...
