Really like the keyless entry . Don't recall which package added this but it works so well.
Read a Skoda reply that they were adding key fob de-activation after a period on non movement. think this was a few years ago.

I also heard that a few years ago, but then this was also featured on a piece on the One Show a couple of weeks ago featuring Matt Alwright (of Rogue Traders fame), detailing what manufacturers were doing about the problem of keyless car thefts.

All of the VW group plus BMW were mentioned as having adopted the Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology for their keyless systems, which is now recognised (by the likes of Thatcham) as being the gold-plated solution as it can't be hacked. It would be interesting to know if the Enyaq's KESSY system includes the new technology.

In a nutshell, part of the signal from the key to the car includes a time code, so the car can then work out a "time of flight" of the signal, which means that the car knows exactly how far away the key is physically situated. It therefore can't be remotely relayed closer to the car using the sort of tech that the 'tea leaves' currently use to grab the key fob signal from inside your house and then transmit it closer to the car.

On my current Kodiaq (2018) you can disable the KESSY by locking the car with the button on the keyfob and then touching the door handle within 5 seconds of the car locking. It will give another flash of the indicators and you then wait 10 seconds and can then only unlock the car by pressing the unlock button on the key fob - the keyless part of the unlock (i.e. just pulling the handle with the key in your pocket) is disabled until you next unlock the car via the key fob. It then works again as normal. I've got into the habit of locking my car when it's on my drive overnight using this method as it completely defeats the remote theft, albeit it is slightly less convenient. Don't know if this feature is included on the Enyaq, but suspect it would be.

Yes you can disable it by the method you described. I acquired a small faraday cage to hold the key fobs.

Finally found some more info on this including a tweet from Skoda UK stating categorically that they do indeed use UWB tech in their keyfobs for keyless entry as well as having a motion-sensor turning the key off when it's laid down - see the screenshot of the tweet below. Unsure whose Twitter feed this is though as it has lots of Arabic and Hebrew text and my language skills (or lack of them!) don't stretch that far!

On that basis, no need for Faraday cages / boxes / pouches / etc. to keep your keys in - the theives can't use the remote relay method to trick the car into unlocking, that simply doesn't work with UWB as the 'time of flight' of the signal from the key to the car tells the car exactly how far away it is situated (to an accuracy of less than 1 cm). Relaying the signal doesn't change this, so the car can't be fooled.

I also found information that it is included for the ID.3 and ID.4, so for sure it will be on the Enyaq.

Picked up my Enyaq today so currently just playing with the settings and getting used to the interface. With regards to Kessy, it is no problem having it auto-unlock, but the vehicle does not seem to auto-lock itself when I move the key away from the car. Is there an option to do that, or do I have to resort to using the handle / sensor or the key fob to lock the car?

I think there is a brief delay.

I don't have my Enyaq yet, so can't confirm for definite, however the manual only mentions the option to allow unlocking when approaching, no mention of automatically locking when moving away.

Just checked mine as I did not lock it last night (you can tell by the wing mirrors) and yes it was unlocked. So it appears we need to lock it with the fob.
I did change the setting to unlock both doors rather than just one when the fob is detected.

isn’t there a sensor on the FRONT of the door handle you can use to lock the car without using the fob. if it’s the same as i have on my karoq, as long as the key is in close proximity, you can lock the car by placing your. hand over the sensor. i have in the past, if my hands are full, just turned my back and used my back to cover the sensor.
