Apologies if I should have posted this elsewhere ?
I was due to collect my new car this Friday however sales have been in touch today saying it will be delayed 2-3 weeks because

“ Skoda have identified Enyaq vehicles from a certain production period where there could be a possible issue with the battery module therefore, they would like them replaced before being delivered to the customer”

Has anyone experience of the battery needing replaced? I’m worried that this has happened before I’ve even collected it and I’m considering rejecting it.

There was a huge recall for traction battery modules on cars made in 2021, i havent heard of anything more recent, but this could be new.

Also depends if its the main traction battery or the 12v, or something else.

12v batteries have been an issue on EVs since the start. There have been a lot of mis-steps, with the Leaf and the Zoe needing 12v battery replacements over the years. I suspect that the algorithms for 12v battery charging have been a bit suspect.

Ahh, maybe an answer to our 85x / 85 battery issue and app problems? Fingers crossed!

Don't confuse 'battery' and 'battery module'. Despite Skoda's lack of detail, I suspect their message refers to an electronic controller for a battery, rather than the chemical storage device itself.

As others have pointed out, there have been scattered reports over the years of issues with the 12V battery being kept adequately charged, rather than the bank of 400V traction batteries. It may be that this Skoda notice refers to a charging controller for the DC-DC converter that takes the 400V and squeezes it down to 12V. Unless you've got other critical issues with the delivery, I'd suggest not rejecting it on this basis alone.

Do you have any idea of the production date? What is the "certain production period". My Enyaq was produced on the 23/10/2024 and I have all the documents to collect the car but it is still "in preparation" on the importer.

I am worried that he has the same issue but no one is telling me about this timelines changes.

I was told that my car was build week 39 - they are replacing one of the 12 modules that make up the battery pack apparently
