Just in case you didn’t realise (and no one would blame you - Skoda certainly haven’t made this very clear !!)

Here’s what the Standard Rear lights (top) look like when compared to the Matrix Rear lights (bottom).

Presumably the standard lights don't get the sweeping indicators either? Pretty sure they're included with the LED Matrix rear lights, not that you get any benefit from that feature when you're sitting in the car driving!

That’s correct - no sweeping effect on the indicators. By the way, the indicators are LED (on the rear) but again, they only occupy the top part of the rotated ‘V’ as I’ll call it, where the red lights are. They don’t appear on the tailgate, unlike the Matrix option.

This video shows the Standard (non matrix) lights quite well :

Here's a video of the matrix LED lights, both front and rear (might have been posted before, apologies if it has):

Hello,

I´m from Portugal and i bought an Skoda Enyaq IV 60, with full led front lights, so at the back the lights are the normal led. I only realize that now and is very disappointing. The rear of the car is very big to be lighted for a very small section of the standard rear lights.

Question: The rest of the tail light incorporated in the trunk door doesn't have the led filament light inside? Can it be activated? Even if there was now dynamic light effect. Just the presence light to illuminate more section of the car rear? It was a safety issue.

I´m sorry for my English.

Best regards.

/\ Your English is perfect 👍.

Unfortunately Skoda’s marketing doesn’t make this very clear. All the early YouTube videos seemed to feature demonstration vehicles with the ‘Matrix’ LED system, which does include a much larger spread across the rear of the Enyaq.

The most basic lighting system (which you get unless you specify something different, or order a Sportline model) does include LED lights at the front (except for the orange indicators) but far less LED lighting on the rear, as shown in the photos at the top of this thread.

I personally became aware of this fairly early on, as the Skoda Factory video shows a standard LED Enyaq coming outside for the first time and driving on some test humps. It’s not easy to spot but I could see that its rear light cluster illuminated far less than a Matrix version would. Also the Dutch Skoda configurator has different CGI graphics to many of the other European ones, and I could see on that one, that the rear light cluster illuminated less for standard lights compared to having the Matrix option.

I’m not sure if the lights can be changed after you’ve already got them but I don’t think it’s the same physical unit at the rear - it’s only the same shape.

In fact as someone involved in sales and marketing myself, I’m quite surprised that Skoda haven’t done more to make people aware of the differences - this could tempt people to spend a bit more and upgrade to Matrix lights, if they can see clearly what the standard ones look like! 🤷‍♂️

I wasn't going to order matrix headlights initially, but when I had to revise my model choice from 80 Loft to 80 Sportline to get HUD with minimal leather, I was pleasantly surprised that I'd ended up with them. Because I had a lot of packs on the Loft, changing to Sportline only increased the total by about £1000, and netted me around £2500 of options I didn't choose originally as not being essential, as many things are included in the higher base price.

It´s really a shame. Any model, since Renault Megane, to Seat Leon, Arona and many other cars have large rear light, with great visibility, and their back is not so big as the Enyaq. I don´t know at happens in the Skoda engineers or product managers... A really big fault in a almost perfect car.

I still hope that can be a solution in the future.

I´m going to send an e-mail to Skoda, as a costumer to show them my point of view.

Best regards

Heh - my background has mainly been Japanese cars that in general have terrible reversing lights :) Enough to alert someone that the car might move backwards, but certainly no good for illuminating the area behind the car. However the reversing camera on my last Subaru and my current Mitsubishi Outlander do perform very well in the dark, switching to black and white infra red mode when it's not light enough for colour.
