I am in France where the Matrix LED are standard equipment (Standard varies by country). There are settings for them including animation duration.
If you don't have them I guess the settings are hidden as they would be pointless.

Now I can't find them on mine. I know I have seen them and was wondering if to set the animation on longer. There must be a bug that hides them.

Finally got round to checking settings for the rear light animation options.

I have found them in following location:

Vehicle settings > Comfort Light Settings > Tail Lights

There are 3 options.

The one that it was originally set as is actually the best one 👍

The single reversing light on the standard LED is virtually useless. You get more illumination from the brake lights.

I wish I had know this previously. Surely a simple fix must be possible?

Without sufficient illumination when reversing, even with a rear view camera as I have it’s dangerous.

I wonder if Skoda would consider this a safety issue too and make amends? At least provide a light either side of the vehicle.

You can always add additional reversing lights under the bumper if you want to. This used to be quite common on cars that tow caravans back when reversing lights were poor on all cars - they’re primarily there to warn other people that the car is moving backwards not for illumination.
But yes, the night performance of the camera is poor compared to other makes.

Yes, provided you comply with the Road vehicle lighting regulations 1989, Schedule 14, Reversing Lamps:
https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/198 ... le/14/made
which states that you can have a maximum number of 2 reversing lamps and that each shall not exceed 24W max (I would take that to mean or equivalent for LEDs, you can't just make them as bright as you want).

The risk would be an MOT failure, especially if you added an additional 2 to the existing 1, however how many MOT centres would actually pick this up or actually be able to determine the output of the lamps, especially if LEDs?

Yep, keep them legal. Isn’t RVL superseded now by whatever bits of the EU ECE regulations the UK government chose to keep? RVL ceased to be relevant whilst we were part of the EU (just as well as it doesn’t allow LED lighting).

Hard to tell as the UK regulation is still published on the UK Government website and nowhere does it say it's superseded or withdrawn. There is also the 2016 UNECE Regulation 48:
https://op.europa.eu/en/publication-det ... anguage-en
which is to be fair probably what Skoda will apply when designing the car as it comes out of the factory, as that will apply at least throughout Europe and probably most of the world. Plus why would Skoda pay any attention to UK-specific regulation other than to ensure their car complies? I doubt they'd change anything about the design just because UK regulation allowed for brighter reversing lights, they'd just ensure it didn't exceed any maximum limit, which it does, despite being rather dim. That said, the UNECE regulation makes no mention of number of reversing lights or maximum brightness, only that they have to be at the rear end of the car and white in colour.

The Enyaq isn't the only car that suffers from dim reversing lights - it was a regular complaint on the LR Disco Sport forum I used to frequent.

I was ready (after 5000 miles) to go full guns at Skoda and Lease company. However, I just posted settings that make me retract everything I thought and said. Have a look at the post and settings and see what you think.
