I'm just looking to see if anyone else has had the same issue and users thoughts...

I ordered an Enyaq 60 mid June with a few option packs, including the family pack which has power operated child locks. Although not a critical feature, it's one we would have definitely used. Last week I received an email from the dealership saying that due to chip shortage they would be removing that feature to help with production schedules etc. If I was ok with this, then I didn't need to do anything (which in itself I find wrong, as you could easily miss an email!), but if i really wanted it still, then production would start at some point AFTER June 2022 (over a year afyer paying a deposit). I replied asking whether this would impact the price or if they would add another feature as compensation. I received a short response saying that Skoda wouldn't adjust prices, to which I asked if I'm supposed to pay for something that I will no longer get.....no response! I eventually emailed that although I was very disappointed etc, I would accept, as I didn't want to be put to the back of the queue...(still no response).

I think this is astonishing. I'm aware of production issues, but they could easily unlock a feature that is already installed on the car etc to create some good will.

Thoughts?

Personally, I'm happy to wait for as long as it takes for them to get the components they need to build the car. I knew cars were taking a lot longer to build than normal when I placed the order. They're offering you a way to jump the queue by removing part of one option pack. You don't have to take it.

A lot of car orders have been put on hold indefinitely - at least Skoda are trying to get Enyaqs out the door. I know BMW are doing similar things like offering to fit manual seats rather then electric ones if the customer would prefer not to wait a few months until they have the electronics to provide what they originally requested.

The problem is a lack of hardware so they would have to recall vehicles to fit the missing component(s).

Clearly that’s doable, if expensive for Skoda, but when the components did become available they would likely prioritise vehicles on the production line & so you might have a very long wait anyway.

I agree that they should compensate you if the car isn’t as ordered, even if it’s just some Skoda merchandise.

As you've had no response to your last two attempts at contact, I suggest you send them another email that you agree to not having the child locks provided the amount to be paid as the deposit / total price (depending on whether you're on a PCP or cash buyer) is reduced by the amount of the Family Pack (or a portion of it, appropriate to the fact that only part of the pack is missing). Put at the end of the email that if they're ok with this then they don't need to do anything - exactly the same way they asked you to agree to a change of contract. Send it to the sales executive you've been dealing with but also CC the dealer's manager. Bet you get a response then!

Whilst an email provides a paper trail, the dealership are more likely to respond to a phone call or visit in person. They can't take money for something that isn't how it was described, so at very least you have the right to withhold that portion of the cost. If you paid part of the deposit on a credit card, then any legal costs would be covered, though you won't want to go that far, because they should offer some small token of good will in addition to not charging you for what you're not getting.
It may be worth asking if the Family Package Plus is still available, for a free upgrade.
Alternatively, you could try for a written commitment to have this put in later at the dealership next year when the parts become available.

That does seem unfair if they’re offering absolutely nothing in lieu of the feature I assume you’ve had to pay for as part of the pack. They could easily throw in one of those home charge ‘granny’ cables or something else.

Try going higher up the food chain than the dealership. Stay polite :-) but persevere with Skoda UK and / or Skoda HQ in Europe if you get nowhere. It’s understandable that the well publicised chip shortage could impact certain features (my ‘synthesizer world’ is similarly impacted) but Skoda should give you something in return. Keep trying ! Let them know you’re on a public forum and people are eagerly awaiting the outcome of your experience ;-)

Maybe, but remember your contract is with the dealership, and so they're the ones who are asking you to pay for something you're not getting.

I've just had the same thing happen for my Enyaq60 - they've removed traffic jam assist from the assisted drive basic package. Ordered in early July, confirmed build week 41.

I guess they’re looking for ways to shift cars out of storage and on to customers. Doesn’t look good for those of us waiting for a build slot (or for you).

How many more features will be removed to enable them to call cars complete? I follow a Land Rover forum and similar things are being reported there.

Were you offered any compensation? If not, I can see lawyers starting up some class actions.
