Ridiculous waiting times
my enyaq was ordered 13th July and was given a provisional delivery date of 31st October. This date has now been pushed back several times and currently sits at 4th April 22. This is a business lease car and my current one is due back 19th January. I have the option to extend this on a daily basis for 28 days at present but hoping nearer the time they'll extend this. Failing that I'll just have to find a temporary lease car until my Enyaq is ready. I am hoping the date will be brought back forward but with the supply chain issues it is anyone guess.
Your post is a perfect example of my original post. Those times are ridiculous!!! ordered in July but ETA is April'22... so far. I hope you can have it as soon as possible but I think waiting times will increase day by day up to one year of waiting time... RIDICULOUS.
In the meantime other carmakers releasing new models, I know, also waiting list, but no one so long like Enyaq. From my point of view no car worth it, including Enyaq.

My friend ordered a Mercedes in July. He's just been told August/September 2022 for possible delivery. It is absolutely all car manufacturers that are affected in one way or another. The prices of second hand cars has shot up, because there are simply not enough new cars available. It's causing a huge problem for car insurance companies around the world, as a knock on effect for example.
Please do some research if you don't believe what people say on here. We are still in the middle of a global pandemic with thousands of people dying from COVID every day. Manufacturing is not back to pre-COVID levels anywhere, and especially not in places like Taiwan and Malaysia where the semiconductor industry has also been affected by drought and other natural disasters in addition to COVID causing workforce restrictions (a lot of the people who work in the semiconductor industry in Malaysia come from India and Bangladesh, and they're not able to travel at the moment). Supply backlogs exist all over the place which further restricts the ability to get products out.
And if you don't want to wait for an Enyaq, by all means cancel your order and leave the forum to those of us who are enthusiastic about the car and are prepared to wait. For me, even if all other manufacturers miraculously resumed normal production, there's no other car that meets my requirements as well as the Enyaq. There's nothing wrong with my current Outlander, so if I have to drive it for another 6 months, then fair enough.

Isn't it the case that Tesla aren't affected as they are recycling old chips for new cars?

I'm not sure Tesla are totally immune, however they do have one big advantage in that all cars are built to the same hardware standard, so they know exactly how many chips of which specification they need at any given time. There are very few options available at the time of buying your Tesla and those that are don't require different hardware modules to be fitted, they're just software changes, which can be loaded over the air in most cases. That said, they have had issues with their new factory in Germany and early Model Y cars that have just started being delivered on the continent are all Made in China (MIC) then shipped over. I suspect the UK Model Y launch may get delayed as I'm not sure the China factory makes any RHD cars for Tesla (but I could be wrong).

The only upside if your in a hurry is that providing you own a decent low mileage car it is likely to be appreciating - not something I have experienced much over the last 40 years of purchasing new cars privately - so providing Skoda does not increase prices the wait may work favourably from a financial perspective. This situation will only last whilst there is a surplus demand for good second-hand cars over supply.

That’s worked against me in my case - I was planning on purchasing my 5 series from my company for the wife; had it from new and I know how it’s been treated. 2 years ago they predicted £6.5k assuming it’d be on 100k. Due to WFH, it’s only on 70k and they now want £12k for it

My current Kodiaq (in my signature) was valued at £29,470 on 11 Sep by WBAC (without them seeing it), but since then I've renewed the valuation twice and it's now £31,500 as of yesterday. Pretty unbelievable really as that's only 4 weeks that it's gone up by just over £2k! Finance settlement is currently £21.4k so that's £10k equity in my car (theoretically).
Even if it starts depreciating again (as I'm sure it will eventually as I add the miles), I should still have a decent whack of cash out of it when it comes to delivery of my new one.
As I've mentioned before, sadly couldn't stretch to my ideal Enyaq 80X Sportline (with options similar to the Kodiaq). Maybe next time!
