OK.... so it looks like me and my family (wife and kids) will be increasingly looking after my Mum's delightful but extremely bouncy and forever malting 1-year old Jack Russell. In my current car she sits in the front passenger seat footwell but her malting hair is fine as an occasional hoover job but day in day out will make the new car absolutely boggin'!

So...does anyone have any recommendations for Good quality, comfortable, preferably hair containing (my wife is allergic - manageable with anti histamine) and CRUCIALLY FOLDABLE / COLLAPSIBLE dog 'cage' options for a jack Russell sized pooch to go in the boot?

Or another transportation system not in boot. Open to suggestions

A quick Google brings up loads of car boot dog cages you just need to measure the boot to make sure one fits. I am also allergic to dog hair, but we have a dog that doesn't moult (one of my two conditions to agreeing to get one) and she seems to be treated better than me sometimes.

We use collapsible steel framed soft crates in the boot for transporting our Smooth Collies to dog shows (we breed and show). I usually have two in the boot, totalling 1m width. My wife’s VW T5 Caravelle has a full two level steel cage setup for when we need to take more than two dogs to a show.
Generally there isn’t a huge difference in quality so don’t feel you need to buy expensive ones like Croft. Amazon have a good range for example. You want enough room for the dog to stand up, but I don’t that’ll be a problem with yours. Most have mesh panels that’ll let air in and out but not hair.
Remember to strap the crate down to the tie downs in the boot too.

As RichR says, plenty on Amazon, you just need to measure to make sure whichever one you buy will fit. We've got one similar to this for our Kodiaq:
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Cozy-Pet-Del ... RVLPC&th=1

If you're worried about hairs getting into the carpet sides/back of the rear seats then you can always line the outside of it with some Correx plastic sheets, attached with tie wraps on the parts that would be against the sides of the boot or rear seats.

Much cheaper than many other options, although I don't think there are many bespoke solutions for the Enyaq on the market yet. Guardsman sell a dog guard and boot divider specifically for the Enyaq, but it's not cheap in comparison:

I know these guys from kitting out my chest freezer with bespoke sized baskets, but they also do bespoke dog crates, to your measurement.

The freezer baskets were very reasonable, but I've no direct experience of their dog crates. I use a deep dog bed and restraining harness in the car.

I'm actually still working out whether my beagle will travel in the boot, as she does with my existing car, or on the back seat, on a dog seat or hammock.

She got moved to the boot, due to her hairs getting everywhere in the upholstery, but I have gone for ecoSuite deliberately to avoid this. So she may be allowed back in the cabin. :)
