Can’t seem to open my power tailgate with ‘swinging foot’ - any tricks I need to follow?

Check it's not disabled in the Infotainment. Think it's under 'Outside' then 'Easy Open' in the menu. Other than that, the menu says kicking motion under the centre of the rear bumper.

Also try holding foot under bumper, instead of a fast kicking motion.

Too fast and too many kicks will confuse the sensor. Slow and steady wins the race

I paid for it but has never worked , access is by setting easy opening and my kodiaq worked fine , still haven’t had chance to drop car off with dealer as can’t confirm if a courtesy car will be given and unable to pick up drop off . I’ve asked before if anyone can see a sensor as I remember the kodiaq used to get a bit intermittent when dirty

I've not got my Enyaq yet but on my Tiguan it works best when you do a sweep motion with your foot, rather than a kick motion - if you sweep you foot under the rear bumper across the middle 1/3 of the car it usually works for me.

Still can’t get it to work! Would tow bar have any impact on this?

Is it definitely enabled in the menu in the Infotainment? Manual says: Ignition off, key with you (ie within 1m of the boot lock), nothing attached to trailer socket.

Don't believe so - works fine on my Kodiaq which has the electrically deployable towbar.

The thing that does change is the remote powered tailgate if you've got the towbar out - you can't open the boot either from the keyfob or by pulling the boot release switch in the driver's door, it will only unlock but not actually open. I guess that's because it assumes you've probably got a trailer attached and as you've commanded the remote release, there's a possibility that it could cause the tailgate to strike something. It sort of assumes you're not standing next to the tailgate watching it if you've pulled the switch in the driver's door (if that makes sense?)

Works fine with the towbar and you dont need to be in a specific part of the bumper either (as we were incorrectly told by our salesman). What we've found you need to do is stand much further back than you might think, so that the bottom of your shin is just about touching the bumper when you end the 'kick' so only your foot is actually under the bumper, not half your leg like we were doing!

Be like the black one, not the red, hopefully that shows it ok. And smooth slow kick/pause. Anywhere along the bumper but nearer the middle is easiest I guess.
