My first was a Kodiaq vRS (the diesel one). I was absolutely in love with that. Hell of a car, and the only reason why I part-exed it for an Enyaq VRS is because the second-hand car market was such that even after 3 years of ownership of a car that retailed for £42k, they paid me £35k to hand it back. Enough to wipe out the remaining finance and put a hefty deposit on the Enyaq.

I don't know why Skodas don't get more love than anything else in the VAG group. I've had Audis and VWs before and they're just not as nice IMO.
Ordered: Enyaq Coupe iV vRS (Hyper Green). ETA July '22. Then September '22. Now who knows?

My first was a 2007 Skoda Fabia vRS, one of the early "Warm hatch" diesels (Remember the Top Gear race in it against the Mini Cooper?).

Used to soot massively if you floored it, had a very sporty looking interior, it was my first company car.

It'll be the second, currently driving an Octavia 1.5 manual, frankly I was happy to buy the Octavia on the basis that Skoda was part of the VAG grp, similarly with the Enyaq.

My new Enyaq is my first Škoda ever and my first non-French car for many years. I like comfort and have had several Citroens with Hydropneumatic suspension over the years but now this is not available from Citroen at all and not available from anywhere at normal prices (I cannot afford a Rolls Royce!). I have only had it a week or so but it is turning out to be very practical and has comfy seats and has a decent range despite only being a 60. But my favourite car of all time is Renault 16 - just so comfortable! Younger readers might need to look this one up.

@alljack42, first to answer the original question, we had a new Kodiaq for 4 years then sold it back to Skoda and purchased our Enyaq in July last year, which arrived in November. Currently on a trip from south Norfolk, to Scotland and now on a ferry to Belfast for a couple of weeks in NI (our nephew we employ is based here). Love the car.

Like you, our Renault 16 was incredible. 80mph silent cruising, 40mpg, and so comfortable. Ours did over 100k miles when British cars were having engine changes between 30 to 40k. However, ours had Koni shocks on the back with an initial soft spring then stiffer ones to take a heavy load. I was racing speedway around the country at the time when we used to take the back seat out, lay a full sized speedway bike in minus front wheel, throw the wheel, leathers, tools, methanol and oil on top. Shut the rear hatch and put a second bike on a rack across the back (hence then just for good measure, we’d add a small additional seat in the back left for an additional person to me and my mechanic. Then off from Suffolk to Glasgow, Exeter, Edinburgh, etc.

I’m not sure we’d get away with it these days😉
IV80 Suite, Race blue, 20” Vega alloys, heat pump, electric tow bar, panoramic sunroof, 125kW, climate/transport packs, ordered July 21, delivered November 21. 1st EV and still loving it.

Right???

My previous car was also my first Skoda - a Kodiaq vRS. Dennis Horton Skoda Lincoln were amazing - really rolled out the red carpet. Very transparent with everything, helpful with test drives etc, and really made the handover feel like a special occasion. The car itself was incredible, but it's the service I had from them that ultimately led me back to Skoda.

This time around? Pretty f'n terrible. I never find out of any delays through them; I always have to end up hearing about it through a motoring website. And then when I ask them about it it's 'yeah, that sounds right'. They're not very forthcoming with anything; haven't been for the last 8 months, and I no longer trust them to even stay on the ball with the order and any information that might be pertinent to it, much less make the experience seem great. This is the experience I will think about when I think about where to get my next car from in a few years time.

On the flipside, we have 'a guy' at Hyundai Lincoln who my wife got her current and previous two cars from. In March this year when the EV market was being buried under orders, my wife enquired about trading in for a Kona EV knowing that there was a year's wait for them brand new. He got her into a year-old ex-demo within 10 days. In 10 years of business together he has never once let us down.

Skodas are nicer than Hyundais which is the only reason I didn't buy from him. But this year, Hyundai are branching out with a 'luxury brand' - Genesis - and have a range of EVs coming too. If our guy can order those too, I know what my next car will be in a few years time.

I was considering the Genesis as well but I’ve put a deposit down on a Toyota BZ4X incase the Enyaq doesn’t appear. Looks a very premium finish on the Genesis .

My second ever car was a 1980s Skoda Rapid. Rear wheel drive with the engine at the back. Scared the carp out of me when the bonnet popped open on a dual carriageway!! But I loved it. Moved on to a series of Fords and the like until I got a T4 camper van. Again, loved it, but it drank diesel like the Mrs drinks wine. Got jealous of her in her Zoe so took the plunge on the Enyaq.
I have a friend who’s a mechanic at a VW specialist and he’s VW crazy, but his wife has just settled on an Octavia so I’m thinking they can’t be that bad.
