Bryan, that’s a good point. The issue may be how much your overall energy bill goes up... not just the EV part.

Tony seems to be the winner on quite a long term fixed tariff!

April will be interesting. Will solar panels become more compelling? Payback period of your initial investment doesn’t quite stack up presently, ethical considerations aside. Maybe if energy prices continue to rise and solar panel solutions get cheaper? I guess it boils down to some extent as whether this energy crisis is temporary or not.

Good thread Dad, I'm with Economy 7, Power NI and at this moment in time, my rate is Day time 20.08 pence and Night rate is 11.35 pence, so like RichR I'll wait and see what happens in April. I'm sure this thread will be very popular :o

It would be worth some owners to consider using free electricity from Solar panels especially in the spring and summer. In January the good solar power is limited to between 11.00 am and 1.00 pm.

My problem isn't my electricity costs its the gas it's the 9th January and we have already spent £40 on gas and only £17 on electricity and we are on the cheapest tariff Octopus offer the Flexible Octopus. Our old deal expired 29th December.

With the current price increases it may be worth considering using the Skoda PowerPass to charge if you have the first year as they are at 25p/kwh from the ionity chargers.

So the new price cap announced today, effective 1st April, will be 28p. This impacts anyone on the providers standard tariff.

Gas will be going up to 7p too.

If anyone is aware of any energy companies opening up new deals please post them here! It will be interesting if there will now be competition within the market or whether the 28p still represents a loss for the provider.

Similar, we signed up to a bargain deal just after getting the Yak, but it’s only until Aug 22 so I think even those of us not over a barrel now soon will be. Looking into solar, but I’m not sure the cost outweighs the cost of electricity, even with an EV.
Praying they install a charger for us at work…

Wow, U.K. Electricity prices are very high, I guess due to the methods of generation.
Here in France I signed up to a new contract yesterday. Price: Fixed 20.50 Euros Monthly, Peak: 16.42 Cents Off-Peak 8.67 Cents.
Off-Peak hours 8 (allocated by grid, varies by area and house) mine 03:00 to 08:00 and 13:30 to 16:30)

The French Gov't capped 6 monthly review increases 1 feb at 4%.
