Hi all,
I have two linked issues if anyone can advise...
First - My Enyaq seems to have charging gremlins, I have charged it three times on three seperate DC chargers at 150KW, 100KW and 50KW. Every time it charges for a certain period then displays a dash fault "Electric Drive not working correctly" and proceeds to charge at around 1kw. I got the car into the dealers, they are struggling to diagnose what the issue is and suggested I turn on "reduce AC charge current" which makes no sense to me as its a DC charging issue not AC. They are also now saying nothing is wrong with the car charger.
- Does anyone have any idea what is wrong here?

Second - I ordered my Enyaq in August and received it in December, I had read that 100kw DC Charging was becoming a standard (and can now see it is clearly standard on the Skoda website, which led me to believe that it wasn't a drama), my dealer also sent me a price breakdown link that showed 100kw DC charging as a £0.00 optional add on. Unfortunately the car arrived with only 50kw charging and I cannot access this link anymore, I spoke to my dealership and of course they are denying any knowledge of it, I still have the link in an email but when clicking it now it shows "Expired Link" this is extremely annoying as I have saved every single other document relevant to the car.
Now I know they had an overlap of optional extras for 100kw fast charging ranging in price, in September it was £400, in October is was £340 and in November it became standard but they bumped up the price of the car. Just to be clear, as far as I was aware, the car came with 100kw charging. They are now quoting £500 to stick the faster charging on the car, when I challenged this stating its a simple software update, what's with the extortionate price? They replied, "that's what Skoda charge us"... This is very weird to me because I was under the assumption that Skoda UK is just the importer and has no say over repairs, sales or pricing..?
My question is: Have I got a hope to get this sorted without forking out £500 on a software update?

Hi,
I'm quite happy to be corrected by those on the site a lot more technical than I am, but I thought that the point of a DC charger is that it hase the AC to DC inverter in the charging station and therefore when the juice enters the car it goes straight to the battery and by-passes the car's own inverter. Therfore it seems highly dubious that AC charging has anything to do with the fault. Good luck with solving your problems.

Regarding the 50kw charging option being deleted believe this occurred sometime in Sept (see my post at the time) - so I assume if you placed your order in August 50kw was still standard and 100kw an optional upgrade? Re-ordered mine in late July and subsequently queried what charge rate would be getting with Skoda UK who told me to contact my Dealer who failed to respond to my e-mail. My car was delivered in late November, assume with 50kw charging as never received any notification it was being upgraded but will have to test it out on a fast charger at some stage. Have just briefly tried out my local 50kw charger just to confirm “fast charging” works, otherwise have only used 7kw home charger.

Interesting you are being quoted £500 to retrofit this upgrade, especially as it was only a £340 option at the time of order. Thought I read somewhere that only cars built after a certain date would be upgradeable. I am currently in the process of sorting out some software issues with my Dealer and will inquire further and report back idc.

Is there any way to check if your car actually came with the upgraded 100kw / 120kw charging (without actually trying it on a fast charger)?

Not really no, as it seems it's purely a software setting in the battery management unit. Yes, if you were to plug it into a computer with Skoda diagnostics software you could find out, but for anyone other than an authorised workshop, running the battery down to 10%, getting it nice and warm, then plugging into a charger that is known to supply up to 150kW at 400V (Ionity 350kW are a good bet) is the best method.

Which dealer?
I’m struggling to find a dealer who even would admit it is possible to upgrade

I ordered my Enyaq in late August and got it mid Dec. The dealer called me when he had heard that the car had been built and had checked through the paperwork. Skoda had omitted the extended warranty and upgrade to 100kw charging that I had paid for. Warranty was easily sorted, the 100kw charge issue was interesting because after I placed my order Skoda had made this a no cost standard feature, with a little prompting from me my dealer managed to get me a refund of the cost of the upgrade and a promise of a software upgrade later to the 100kw charge capability. My car is booked in for next Monday to have the software upgrade (1/2 hour job apparently). So I can confirm that the battery charge speed can be upgraded with a simple software upgrade.

I spoke to one of their sales reps who explained an absolutely mental process... So is it indeed a simple software update, but apparently it is a £400 license for the dealer to request a code from Skoda, now the mental part, she told me "there will be delay as we have to order a code from Skoda and currently there is a back order on the codes" to which I said, "it is a code, not a physical item, how in any way can there be a back order?" she just said she didn't know... All of this sounds extremely odd to me. I also spoke to one of their guys in the workshop who confirmed it is a simple software update that takes 10 mins.

This is exactly what i thought. With about 2 mins on Google you can find it has absolutely nothing to do with DC charging or how the car manages DC charging, its a safety feature if you are plugging into a dodgy supply that cant handle above 2.4kw. I'm in no way qualified but it immediately made me nervous when she said that,

Yes the car was delivered with 50kw, i had assumed it was 100kw standard. I remember reading at the time that Skoda was moving to a 100kw standard, hence the confusion, I also had a build price sheet that stating 100kw DC charging included, but that has now been lost to the ether. The overall answer im getting from the dealer is 'pay up or get stuffed'. Ive now moved on to Skoda UK customer services for help, im not crossing my fingers though.

The annoying thing here is that I specifically remember when looking at the car that I needed 100kw charging, my thought process was 'any significant journey 35mins every 200miles is perfectly reasonable, stop, plug in, grab a coffee, carry on. 1h5min is not.'
