I read someone saying putting Air Con on never impacted battery. So i kept it on. Only once have I seen over 3kwh even driving like miss daisy.
Turned it off, and every journey is 3.2 to 3.4 kwh and most of my journeys are 2 to 8 miles each way.
Someone said AC had no impact on range....
Of course it will have an effect, the power had to come from somewhere . However itâs not a huge amount, and having dry air at this time of year is a good thing as it means the windows stay clearer. Once the humidity and temperature are at the target level the power usage will drop quite a bit too.
Personal choice of course - I prefer to be comfortable and most of my journeys are well under the range of the car, even with heater and aircon on. So I just leave climate control on full auto, set to 18C or 19C most of the time.

Hi there - that could have been me, as I made that observation here.
What I meant was, when Clima is âonâ, having A/C on as well, doesnât seem to affect the range in my experience. Letâs say I have 185 miles of range left with Clima on. Putting A/C on as well (to help keep windows de-misted) appears to have no impact on this range; it remains at 185 miles.
However, turning Clima âoffâ might actually appear to increase the range to, say, 198 miles (for example). The impact is more noticeable if the temperature is set to a higher value.
So did you mean specifically A/C in conjunction with Clima, or just Clima ?

Clima on at 21 degrees at one notch up and pointing at windows.
To be fair weather had been 5 to 8degrees, if less than 5 will put ac back on to maintain fog free windows.

It would be interesting to know if others have seen their range remain the same, irrespective of whether the A/C function is enabled in Clima or not. I havenât compared the kW/h difference - I just looked at the âimmediacyâ that the Range number provides.

Do the same journey and try to drive like for like, and sure you will notice a wee difference.Goaty wrote: âThu Jan 13, 2022 9:35 pm It would be interesting to know if others have seen their range remain the same, irrespective of whether the A/C function is enabled in Clima or not. I was out in the car tonight and pressed Max to demise the windows and thus dropped my range from 92 to 77 miles - when I turned it off, range went straight back up to 92!
Private Car: Enyaq IV60 Suite - Brilliant Silver, 21â Alloys, Convenience Plus, Parking Basic, Climate Basic, Tow Bar, 100Kw. Ordered 21/07/21 - Delivered 22/11/21.
Also bear in mind, similar to petrol / diesel cars that the A/C is disabled at low external temperatures to protect from freezing - I think its below 2 Degrees for the Enyaq - reducing the air drying capability when you maybe would like it the most!

RallimG - where did you get that information, please? It's not mentioned in the workshop manual. There's a recommendation that you shouldn't try to cool the car more than 5 degrees below ambient but that's all I can find. I know that the aircon compressor on all my previous Subarus will still engage at well below freezing, but it will cut out if the car's interior temperature gets below about 5C. However you'd be using aircon plus heater, so it won't take long to warm up and then it can work normally.
(I'm not saying you're wrong, just that if there's another source of technical information available, I'd like to add it to my list of resources)

I've seem mentions elsewhere that, where the heating is derived from a heat pump, the aircon can be used to dehumidify the air with no additional energy requirement.
It was my understanding that aircon should always be left on, as the fluid needs to be circulated to provide lubrication for the seals - otherwise the seals will dry out and the aircon will de-gas.
