brilliant! you have an OBD reader too?
these are the values you should record (i have carscanner data):

- cabin temperature (C)
- outside temperature (C)
- battery temperature (C)
- HV battery: circulation pump flow (%)
- PTC heater battery current (A)

Do you have a graph of kWh used for battery warm up when using the schedule already.

If not I will try to have a look tomorrow via OBD to see what it is using.

Cheers
yes, for 0792.
edit: ah no, no kWh values. Only temperatures and Amperage. The effect is clear though.
You could check however out of curiosity how many kWh are used if you have the OBD...

I have a couple of ELM327 compatible readers (one USB and one Bluetooth) from using on previous vehicles. What software are you using? I've usually been using Windows based software, but might be able to find an Android phone (my personal and work phones are both Apple)

as i said, the graphs we have are from Carscanner, but anything that can display those values above in a graph would do.

Here are values from a car with departure time set at 19:15. First graph is ongrid (connected to charger), second offgrid (not connected to charger). When offgrid you see clearly how battery starts to heat aprox 1h before 19:15 and the interior aprox 30min before 19:15. When ongrid, the battery heating does not happen, while interior still will.

So I have run a test and recorded the data this morning.

You can see it used around 5-6kW for 15 mins to warm the battery.

Then around 3-5 kW to warm the cabin for 20 mins.

This whole process used 5% of my battery this is quite a lot.

The outside temperature was above 0 degrees, so under the 3.0 update the battery wouldn’t be warmed at all.

Also interesting to see it never used more than 6 kW, so if this could all happen while been plugged in. The cabin and battery could be preheated by electric from the grid and I could still leave the house with a full battery.

Ideal if your planning a very long journey on a cold morning.

But to me I have wasted nearly 5% of battery to warm the batteries for a quick school run.

I find that 5 mins of cabin warming is sufficient warming for me down to -2c exterior temp.

Yeah but the car we still continue to heat the cabin while you drive and heat the battery at the same time.

I am running tests to determine the most efficient / cheapest method warming the cold car.

Why would it not heat the battery when plugged in?
