Do they charge per minute connected rather than per kWh?
Indeed, time-based tariff with PowerPass at the moment.

Time based tariff? My PowerPass is charged out on a per KWH basis.

How could anyone charge by time, input rate depends on what is already in battery!
Time only becomes a factor if you leave plugged in once charged, preventing use by another, as Tesla chargers do.

Not uncommon on some networks in France, either.
I think the idea is to encourage you to only charge the minimum you need, but it complicates things.
To choose the charger according to the speed you're likely to get takes quite a bit of guesswork.
I think I prefer the overstay charge, like Tesla do sometimes. It's annoying when you're waiting and the charger is blocked by someone who insists on going to 100% and it's down to <20kW speed.

Indeed. Optimizing the charging stops will give huge discounts. Energy-based tariffs are usually 0.35-0.55€/kWh, and with time-based I can get around 0.2€/kWh or less.

If you read the Powerpass charges in most places in Europe they are charged on time basis. Very weird concept.

I've been charged by kWh by ionity in France, NL Belgium and Germany. I think I paid by the minute at a Total in France.

FastNED were by kWh

A few Charge Place Scotland charges do this in a round about way, some councils now have peak and off peak rates so if you charge between 8pm & 8am you get a heavily discounted rate compared to "peak" usage times.

Upgraded 2021 Sept ‘80 to 3.0 last Nov and it was underwhelming…. Still irritated by having to acknowledge online services every journey…

That's not a feature of 3.0. I have had it a few times, but then it stopped (TBF I had 3.0 from the factory).
Something may not be set up properly. How many are having this persistently?
I have the same thing since the upgrade to 3.0 autumn 2022 (got my 80x May 2022). I hate the software. So many bugs like slow charging (compared to other brands), crappy reading of road signs (50% of the time it shows the wrong speed limit), slow start of entertainment system. Ad hoc error messages popping up and then disappearing. Still no OTA for my car in Sweden. Imagine if Microsoft/Apple/Google released new software versions and they were not available for the shipped devices 6 months after release.

50% misreading of road signs sounds like a fault. I was just thinking today how reliable it is. Mine feels like it's 99.9% correct. Perhaps Swedish roads signs are less easy to read?
