Somebody has kindly crashed into the side of my car. Fortunately at low speed so not much damage. However, one of the rear bumper sensors has fallen out. Now when you stick the car in reverse it wants to emergency brake all the time. Is there a way to turn it off?

You have to do it every time you reverse.

That’s exactly the issue the sensor is missing! The car is getting collected tomorrow so hopefully they’ll repair it soon enough. Depending on availability of a new bumper and sensor!

I would guess the issue is that the pedestrian/cross traffic sensors are not the round parking sensors, they are a seperate square panel mounted behind the bumper near the corners. I guess this is damaged and isnt unplugged.

Well I stuck me finger in the circular hole that the sensor normally sits in the bumper and could feel nothing - not even a cable. I also tried illuminating the inside but could see nothing.

The good news is we have our car back. Looks a good repair in terms of bodywork and new bumper. Can I just check what everyone sees when they put the car in reverse? I don’t remember seeing the bumper in the camera view prior to the accident.

Also does your camera look like mine?

If you press the button in the top left of the camera that will change the angle. I think that’s why you can see the bumper.

I recently had my camera replaced as it had gone all blurry and weird.

The old camera i dont recall showing the bumper, but it did show a corner of the handle at the top of the image.

The new camera looks like the above, where i can see the edge of the bumper in view.
