Even though my Enyaq is apparently at the port in Germany, rather annoyingly I’ve just received an email from Skoda (via our lease company) advising me that Traffic Jam Assist will not be included due to the chip shortage and A) it cannot be retrofitted at a later date, and B) the price remains the same (seems they preempted my questions in advance!)

I can either accept it, or cancel the order at no cost. I am a bit annoyed right now about this and probably need to ‘sleep on it’ before demanding a cancellation…(coz’ then what am I going to do ? Wait another 6 months for something else ?!!!).

Curlies. Short. Barrel. Over. Four words that spring to mind right now !

Whether Traffic Jam Assist is in Assist Basic or not has been a bit of a grey area since launch? Surely Traffic Jam Assist is just an extension of adaptive cruise control so a pure software thing? Hmm. Mine still doesn't have a build date, so who knows what the case will be when it gets built, though I have specced Assist Plus, so hopefully it's just waiting longer but will still have all the features.

I just don't get how they can get away with that. I've never bought new before so maybe I am being naive, but is this something that can be flagged up with some sort of Consumer authority. A quick Google shows there is the Motor Ombundsman in the UK. Never heard of an industry that will charge your for goods NOT received (politics aside 😀)

The only silver lining if I do cancel, is I can then re-order the Sportline this time, as that made an appearance on my list AFTER I’d ordered the Loft! Not a ‘no brainer’ though, as I’d have to join the back of the queue and keep getting taxed £400+ every month for my current company car.

So when I put deposit down on my Sportline I was advised by the dealer that delivery could be delayed, and to expect realistic timeframe to be receiving car in December...but he did say there was a chance that I might get it earlier perhaps from October (I think this was on the off chance there was an already built or part built unit that exactly matched my spec)

In my head I have always had December as a, hopefully realistic, timeframe. Had a call from my dealer yesterday to formally confirm it has been delayed to December due to the parts shortage. He did say however that he thought December would be achievable as my order was made in July, so mine is well ahead of others in the queue.

Apparently people ordering Enyaqs now are being told 12 months lead time.

So no major surprises for me, not least because I've gone on the Skoda UK customer services chat thing and been advised it is order code 20, being built but awaiting parts. I remain quietly hopeful that I will my Sportline in time for Christmas! Prepared of course for that timeframe to slip but fingers crossed.

/\ was told yesterday morning that if I change to a Volvo XC40 Recharge, the lead time will be around 10 months. I’ve decided to stick with the Enyaq which is already on the way to the UK. Seems all manufacturers are having these issues (except for Tesla, who can apparently supply a Tesla 3 in under two months)

Tesla are a little different in that they have very few options that are different physical parts fitted at the factory. Most of their options are fitted but disabled or enabled in software only. So they can build standard cars in bulk, in a variety of colours and just ship them. Also Tesla have deleted the radar module due to lack of available components and are doing FCM and ACC using the cameras alone. Having driven my friend's Model 3 a couple of times, it's a nice car but no use to me due to the saloon boot. Also I don't like the fixed regen level and ACC gets a bit closer to things before slowing down than I'd like for example.

Is it that the impacted options are the Option+ variety, where Skoda couldn't easily estimate the takeup and have been caught out being unable to schedule more parts than they originally did?

Interesting on your delivery date, I ordered on Monday a fully loaded 80x sportline and I was told they are looking at 12 - 16 weeks for build on them. My delivery form states April 22 so we will see.

In their defence they were very up front about the issues, sales teams are very frustrated and it's impacting all car and other goods companies. I know someone that works at Land Rover in the factory, apparently Velar production has been shut down and they have shut down a number of other lines.

I guess time will tell but fingers crossed.

The other bonus is they also iron out a lot of the bugs in early builds and software hopefully

I would think 12-16 weeks is overly optimistic - that would be somewhere between 28/12/21 and 25/01/22. 1st April is just over 25 weeks from your order date.

I've been quoted 28 weeks for delivery of my Kodiaq, ordered last Saturday, which puts it in late April, but expecting it might be longer than that.
