So what's worse for millage ?

2 adult bikes and a child's bike started at 196 miles 96 % got to stilling with 46 % after a 53 mile journey. High winds and I'm assuming it was a head wind with the massive drop averaged and 1.7mi/kWh

Fully loaded with holiday gear.

Anyone with similar experience with a roof box or similar combo and what was your our come ?

We topped up at Stirling CPS hub to get onto Loch Lomond and topped up on the 22kW CPS charger for free again up to 96% managed to get to Dunoon with 56% remaining 56 miles driven with a 2.7mi/kWh

140m for sweet FA. Tried to use Osprey network but charger wasn't on app and contactless didn't work so won't be using them again after a crap experience.

We used to use a large roof box (750L?) when the kids were smaller, replaced by 4 large bikes on the roof once they were older. I’ve probably driven over 30k miles around Europe like this, but in a diesel.

From memory, the roof box had the biggest impact on mpg, reducing it from ~ 50 to maybe ~ 38 mpg on a long motorway trip. The bikes reduced the mpg to about 40.

I haven’t yet tried with the Enyaq.

I watched a Carwow YT video recently which used an Enyaq to show the effect of these types of accessories and varying speeds on range. Was really good info as they just used a long oval track (maybe Millbrook) to carry out the tests so all were consistent.

We did a 40 mile drive with a 370l roof box (Half width) and a tow bar bike rack with 3 bikes on it. We left on 100% and arrived on 82%. I didn't check the consumption on the screen but i calculate it at ~2.7kwh/m.

Return trip from our trip away 141 miles left at 100% and topped up from 40% to 80% in Stirling and returned to Dundee with 35% I think can't remember but over all trip at 2.3mi/kWh.

From Stirling to Dundee we got 1.7 due to Bikes and fully loaded car.

Is this with bikes on the roof or towbar rack?

Does anyone have experience of mounting a towbar bike rack and what effect that has on efficiency?

I mounted a tow bar rack, carrying 2x e-bikes last week. Did 170 miles with 30 miles remaining in an iV60. Route was 50% motorway.
Only a small effect on efficiency that I could tell.

Good to know. Thanks. I have the bikes, I have the charger, just need the car now :-)
