Has anyone managed to successfully fit headlight deflectors for driving in Europe? Off to the south of France next month (Ionity network is going to be our friend here for sure!).

The Enyaq doesn't show up in the list of supported vehicles for eurolites etc... and I didn't go for the upgraded full matrix lighting option (probably a mistake in retrospect).

Thanks for raising this question - I hadn’t really thought about this as my last two cars both had electronic settings for driving on the continent. I need to know this, too for next month.

I’m going to task my local Skoda dealership to find out!

I drove around France earlier in the month without doing anything to the lights. I didn’t drive at night but the lights did come on whilst driving down a dual carriageway in the rain. Nobody flashed me. I formed the view (albeit without much evidence) that the lights offer a flat beam or don’t actually dazzle.

/\ I’m not convinced they make a huge amount of difference either but 20 odd years ago, I was involved in a shunt in Poland (totally the other driver’s fault which he admitted). One of my Eurolites had actually fallen off several days before and one of the policemen who attended, noticed and actually started to get quite angry about it! I didn’t get a fine, but there’s always a possibility I suppose if a copper wants to play by the rule book…..

I’ve just spoken to my local dealership who advised that there isn’t any known position just yet.

However, they did say it could be booked in for them to use ‘specialist equipment’ which detects the point where it needs to be blocked (for a fee) or I could do this myself by driving close to a wall, identify against the wall a slightly higher illuminated area towards the left and then try to judge which part of the headlights need to be blocked, so that the higher part isn’t present anymore.

You’re not actually allowed to drive in the UK with those Eurolites in place, so you’d have to try and remember or measure the bit you’ve previously identified, I guess prior to fitting them on the ferry / train !

I figured that might be the case @Goaty. I think I'm going to end up trying to create some sort of template at home and then use that once I get "to the other side"!

My Outlander does not require any headlamp deflectors - I am surprised that a more modern vehicle like the Enyaq requires such.

Thanks for asking the question of the dealer Goaty - how did their answer make you feel?

It just makes me not want to buy another Skoda which given I like the car is very sad.

I don’t understand how Skoda can make a car and not consider people will want to take it abroad after all as gap998 says cars have been made for years with the option built in. Okay Skoda do have the paid for option of full LED lights but nowhere in the market material did it say if you want to drive abroad you need to buy the optional extra. (Or if it did I missed it).

As for the dealer on the one hand they’re being helpful offering to find out whether you need beam deflectors or not and where to stick them but who says they wouldn’t give the task to an apprentice to work out?

Then what happens if you are stopped abroad by the Police? I took the view as a new car every Policeman would think it doesn’t need beam stickers as it’ll be set in software these days. But you can hardly say it’s okay Mr Policeman my local garage told me to stick them here!

We need a Skoda UK issued document.

The Enyaq user manual refers to a setting on the infotainment screens for 'travel mode' to switch headlights between left and right hand side driving.

Not sure if this is matrix lighting only though.

Unfortunately that’s matrix lights only, the option doesn’t appear in the infotainment system for standard lights
