I wonder if this will affect all VAG group EV's? I would be surprised if it was limited to VW only, given that it's the same platform.

Maybe this could be behind some of the electric drive errors people have been getting?

That's exactly what I was thinking.

I think there’s a chance… he mentioned it at some point:

So what is the fault? Is it, for instance, burst battery casing(s) due to overuse of fast chargers? Or is it totally random in which cars it strikes?

I think the suggestion is it's earlier models, although the ID4 came out quite a bit later than the ID3. In terms of timeline, I think it was ID3 then Enyaq followed by ID4.

The fault is early degradation of certain battery cells within the 400v traction battery pack. You'll notice a gradual loss of range after charging and also up to 10% loss in range overnight too.
You might also get that message like Goaty has shown above - ELECTRIC DRIVE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY :(

It will happen to all batteries eventually but unfortunately this one seems a bit premature.

As ChangoMutney says, its currently limited to early VW ID3's and ID4's which initially used a different supplier for their batteries. They were made by the LGchem company from South Korea but the problem ones were built by a plant in Poland around 2019/2020
VW have since identified a manufacturing defect which could cause this problem. VW know which vehicles are involved and are currently contacting all owners to take their vehicles in to dealers for a more detailed check and/or replacement traction batteries.

It is yet unkown if any Enyaqs are affected due to this problem.

Further digging has found a SKODA Service campaign ref 93Q3 for Enyaqs.

Unfortunately it doesn't specify which models could be affected, that's down to the dealer with more specific data :(

But it shows that VAG are actively involved in checking and rectifying.

Heres the title page of the service agents document :-

But it does give the VIN numbers affected, so we can check our cars against the ranges given.
