I want to install a charging point at work and have been advised that the most efficient way is to install a 32A commando socket and it will provide 7kw charging, same as my home charger. It will be installed inside, so not exposed to the elements. I appreciate there will be no app, timer etc. Can anybody confirm is this correct?

TIA

Its very much a "Grey" area as far as the electricity regulations are concerned. As a qualified and certified electrician (now retired), I would certainly NOT do it.

Have a view of this youtube vid.

What are you going to plug into this 32A commando socket if it was fitted ?

If you're using an EVSE designed to go in 32A IEC sockets such as Skoda's Universal one (the £600 one) then there's probably no issue. But you do need that EVSE to provide the safety interlocks and current management.

But that's not much cheaper than having a proper certified wall mounted EVSE fitted.
