Just had a test drive of the Enyaq, and asked them about rear privacy glass on the 60 ecosuite.

Cue an argument between the salesmen, some of whom thought it’s standard spec, and some who didn’t .

I’ve looked on Skoda’s website and it’s not mentioned on the standard spec list.
There’s a £725 Comfort package that mentions ‘privacy and acoustic glass’, but it doesn’t say which windows!

Never bought a Skoda before, and this is really annoying, something so simple shouldn’t be so hard.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi,

I agree - you should be allowed to choose it on its own, but currently it’s not possible and as you say, it’s part of the Comfort Pack [ correction - Convenience Pack ] which is expensive and includes nonsense like keyless entry and a coffee break warning or something!

It’s definitely not standard, even on the iV80. I think it ‘might’ be on the Sportline though.

It only cost me £200 or so to have privacy glass included on my BMW 5 series Estate (i.e a big car) 5 years ago.

I’ve therefore spec’d my Enyaq without privacy glass and may have it added by a third party later on. I’ve been quoted around £200 to have it added by a company in my area who does this.

That said, I saw the base model Enyaq at my dealership yesterday which has standard lights and no privacy glass. It looked very nice, even without it.

Thanks iixorb.
Always wondered whether after market tinting is any good.

Additionally, I was a bit paranoid at first, not spec’ing privacy glass (Convenience Pack) - I thought it might make my Enyaq look a bit basic and not posh enough!!!!

However I’ve since noticed plenty of Range Rover Velars, Discovery’s and new shape Volvo XC90’s without privacy glass, so we’re in good company!

Fair enough !
I want it for the kids as a sun shade, more than for the looks.
Maybe I’ll get the blinds instead.

It’s the convenience package that your looking for if you want the privacy glass. Comfort package is for upgrading the seats 👍🏻

As jambo6782 says, it's the convenience package (basic or plus) rather than the comfort package that includes the privacy and acoustic glass.

It will be all the glass behind the B pillars as UK law states that the minimum transmission of light for front windows is 70% (75% for the windscreen) - i.e. a 30% tint - and as tempered glass never has a 100% light transmision value (nominally around 80-85%), manufacturers as a rule don't factory fit any tint on the front glass. All other glass can be as tinted as you like, but having been in the back of someone's car that had a very dark tint on the rear windows for purely cosmetic reasons - he liked the way it looked from the outside! ;) - it makes the interior a really gloomy place to sit, so do be a bit careful and understand what you're getting if you go for an after-market tint.

Thanks all, good advice.
A friend just ordered an Enyaq from Peterborough Skoda, and they told him rear privacy glass is standard - don’t know who to believe! It seems that these dealers aren’t briefed well enough on the cars they’re selling.

I think your friend might be in for a shock. Ask you friend to show Peterborough Skoda the photos of the blue one I posted above .... no privacy glass here, and this one is an iV80 :!: :!:
