Front ability assist is limited - Warning light

I keep getting a warning flash up briefly on the screen behind the steering wheel saying "front ability assist is limited". Does anyone know why this is happening? Whether this is a fault that needs fixing? or whether it is due to road conditions or something?

Thanks.

I assume you meant 'Front assist is unavailable'? Searching on that message brings up a few posts suggesting that dirt or bright sunlight on the camera at startup, fog or dirt/frost/snow on the radar sensor can lead to this. The manual also says to check the radar sensor (behind the grille) isn't obscured by dirt or snow, and also to check the brake lights are working (not quite sure I see the connection though!).

It also suggest turning the car off and back on again. Try cleaning the grille and camera area and see if that helps. There is also talk of a software glitch, which means it should get fixed at some point.

I suppose the other thing to ask is - after the message clears, does it leave any warning lights, and does the front assist work?

I have had this intermittent for a few years on my Kodiaq , heavy rain and sometimes snow and ice seemed to kick it off.

Ditto on my Kodiaq - more prevalent in the winter with a frosty windscreen. It will persist until the heated screen manages to clear the area with the camera, which sadly isn't within the swept area of the wipers.

I did once find a massive moth had paid the ultimate price and caused a huge splodge right over the camera which also resulted in the same message. Never had a problem with the radar element of it though.

Mine did this, took it into the dealer and the steering wheel needs replacing

This pops up now and then but disappears after a second or so. Put it down to dirt, weather etc, not sure it’s a big deal.

I’m now getting an error with the enyaq clean front sensors I’ve cleaned them 3 times by hand and pressure wash and still the same wondering if this is software related or a faulty sensor. Driving me nuts.

By 'front sensors' which do you mean? Front assist (or automated braking) uses the radar module (behind the grille, you can see the slightly flatter bit of the moulding in the centre) and the main camera (top of windscreen). It does not use the ultrasonic parking sensors in the bumper for example.

On my Kodiaq this is always due to my front grille sensor being obstructed by snow, ice or dirt.

It has nothing to do with snow/dirt/rain or whatever on the sensor.
It's faulty sensors in the steering wheel.
This youtube video describes it perfectly
