I saw that. I think the Enyaq comes out of it as one of the best considering it was the 80x version. The RWD would have won easily in that test.

I haven’t seen it yet - thanks for posting.

Knowing Mat Watson however, he’s not likely to drive as cautiously as some of us might do, so there’s probably a few more miles to be squeezed out of it.

By the way, he’d make a great Top Gear presenter. Better than that annoying cricket bloke!

There is also a very positive review by Fifth Gear Recharged in which Jason Plato, ex British Touring Car Champion, and the team put an Enyaq through its paces and score it very highly.

Interesting the comparison in prices as well - the BMW is shockingly expensive for what it is! Also interesting the difference between the Audi and the Skoda as well as between the Hyundai and the Kia, given that both those pairs of cars have essentially the same platforms underneath. Ultimately they all did pretty well given the expected reduction in range when driven in far from ideal conditions (British winter).

Amazing how far the competition has come though - only a few years ago Tesla would have wiped the floor if the Model Y had been included, but now all of the others are pretty much comparable and I'm not so sure the Model Y would have won (claimed 315 mile range for the dual motor version).

As for Mat Watson making a great Top Gear presenter, I'm not so sure. I say that not because he isn't a great presenter on the CarWow YouTube channel, but because of what Top Gear has become - it's no longer primarily a car show giving meaningful reviews of cars you or I would buy, it's principally a mainstream entertainment show, loosely based around cars and really doesn't provide any consumer advice about cars at all. On that basis, the 'annoying cricket bloke' is employed purely for entertainment/popularity reasons.

I'd say bring back Rory Reid who escaped to the Autotrader YouTube channel - probably the best (and most informative) car channel on YouTube.

Another range comparison test here, sorry its in Italian but all the stats are there. They used a standard iv80 on 19" tyres. The three VAG cars had very similar results but the Enyaq just about took the win. But the Tesla Y just can't be beat on efficiency, very impressive considering its a dual motor and has double the power of the VAG cars. But overall I think the Enyaq done very well.

The BMW in the Carwow test was an iX3 I think, which is a pretty pointless car with the introduction of the iX. (Which is even more expensive but does have good range. Mind you the top spec iX has so much battery I think it takes 14-15 hours to charge on 7kw wallbox!)

Did anyone manage to catch the speed averages of the cars as this would be interesting to see in relation to miles covered

That Italian video is a somewhat pointless test really, not comparing like with like. Interesting that they got all of the data, but are people who are in the market for a top-spec EQS really going to reassess and purchase an Enyaq because it's a little bit more efficient? One costs £40k and the other £135k...

Likewise the BMW iX - interesting (if somewhat challenging) looks-wise, lovely interior, very compromised boot space and a battery that's not really viable to charge at home. 17 hours to fully charge on a 7kW home charger according to Rory Reid on the Autotrader review. And 56 hours if you can only plug into a granny charger! And way, way more expensive than most of the others in the test.
