Hi All,

Sneaking over here from the VW GTE forum.

My iV 60 has just arrived at the dealers and I'm expecting to collect next week. The best deal for the spec. I wanted was a long way away so I'll have to drive from Glasgow to deepest England to swap cars as I'm trading my PHEV.
(It would have cost too much to have it trailered up here.)

No worries about the return journey, some great information out there on Youtube, (thanks Enyaq Gorm) all tooled up with apps etc.

This was a cancelled order with a decent spec, no sunroof though.

Race Blue, 21" alloys (not too sure about those!), tow bar prep, Comfort Basic, Convenience Plus Light/View Basic, Drive Basic Assisted Drive Plus, Parking Plus, Infotainment Plus.

The only thing it doesn't have that I wanted - heated seats. Dealer has agreed to fit so happy days.

Surprised the dealer agreed to retrofit the heated seats, but then I suspect (as many of us probably do!), all seats as delivered actually have the heating elements and wiring included, it's just a software update to enable the functionality... Or maybe they can swap the seats? Hmm - I doubt it.

Everything I've read says the 21" Betria alloys don't badly affect the ride quality on the Enyaq. They do look lovely, it's just the £400/corner tyre replacement cost that would be a killer for me!

Enjoy it once you get it!

/\ indeed, the 21” Betria alloys still give a comfortable ride. Perhaps not as ‘floaty’ as Rory Reid seemed to suggest in his recent AutoTrader review of the Enyaq, but definitely not harsh at all. I’ve not driven any other Enyaq with smaller alloys, so I can’t compare.

They do indeed look incredible - but beware of kerbs!! Careful parking practices (like lowering the wing mirror to get a better view of the distance between the rear wheel and the kerb) should help to avoid this; a habit I developed a few years’ back when regularly having to find virtually non existent spaces down a narrow street with 100 year old wonky alloy-grinding kerb stones!

As Goaty says the Betria alloys are fine from a ride point of view and they look fantastic! I just have be very patient and precise when parking! Shame I don’t have the comfort pack that drops the passenger mirror when reversing!

To be honest, I've stopped using the auto-dipping function as I can't actually see the tyre anyway. Luckily I haven't yet had the requirement to park really, really close to a kerb, so leaving it 15-20cm out has been fine so far. I ought to work out where on the reversing camera guidelines the tyre matches up with so I can use that to get a bit closer.

The ‘bendy’ one (green I think?) does seem to represent the tyre position really well - so if it appears to be just over the edge of the kerb, that’s where the wheels are likely to be. And after completing the manoeuvre, turning it until it’s no longer curved, you can be sure your wheels are perfectly straight. It’s a good system.

I wouldn’t normally take so much time / care to parallel park but there’s hardly any tyre-wall ridge to protect the alloys.

Yeah - I use the bendy (yellow) lines to know how far to turn the steering to end up reversing into the correct parking space. They're pretty much spot on. I'll try parallel parking in daylight at some point to see how it matches (so far I've only done it at night when going to collect a takeaway!) Also I've found the green lines for 2m, 1m and the red line for 'just enough to open the boot' are also pretty accurate too.

/\. I found a really quiet road near me and spent about half an hour practicing parallel parking the Enyaq into increasingly tighter spaces - until I become more confident in trusting my judgement / the bendy line indications / wheel positioning in the wing mirror etc. I must have looked like a learner !

Definitely helps to switch Auto Hold off as well, when parallel parking (and using the brake pedal to control the rate of progress backwards and forwards).

Sorry White67 - we seem to have hijacked your post with discussions about parking 🤣. Well, you started it, by mentioning 21” wheels 👍😂

I’m not sure - I’ll have a look at the workshop manual to see if there are any clues. Rears definitely not, as you don’t get the switches for a start.
