Did a run from Bedford to Sudbury over the weekend - 150 miles return, plus 20 miles exploring on country roads. Arrived back with 101 miles on the GOM. Bearing in mind my A14 driving was an indicated 70mph all the way, the total range of (265 to ...) 271 miles seems pretty good to me.
I don't see the quoted range as being any different to the quoted MPG on an ICE. You almost never get what was quoted.
